1. Desktop app: data kept on your computer

The following stays on your own computer. We cannot see it and none of it is sent back to us:

• Download task records: URL, filename, save path, size, progress and status (a local SQLite database)
• App settings: download folder, concurrency, speed limits, category folders and interface preferences
• Logs: used for troubleshooting, stored inside the app data folder
• Website cookies read for a download: used only for that request, not kept separately and not uploaded

A download is a direct connection between your computer and the target server. File contents never pass through any server of ours.

2. Desktop app: the three cases where it goes online

(1) License activation.

When you enter a serial number in the app, it sends the serial number and a device fingerprint to our license server (qisw.top) to verify the serial and record the activation seat this device uses. The fingerprint is an identifier computed from this machine's hardware information; it does not contain your name, account or file contents. Activation uploads nothing else.

(2) Update checks.

The app requests a release manifest from qisw.top to see whether a newer version exists. As with visiting any website, the server sees your IP address and your current version number. The request does not include your download history or personal information.

(3) Video site resolution (website edition only).

When you download from a video site, the app runs the bundled yt-dlp, which connects directly to the site you are visiting. This step does not pass through our servers either.

3. Browser extension

The extension has one job: handing download requests from your browser to the BenLiu desktop app running on the same machine. It reads:

• The URL, Referer and User-Agent needed for the download
• Filename, file size and content type
• Cookies for the current site when needed (otherwise downloads that require sign-in would fail)

This data is sent only to the local loopback address http://127.0.0.1:21176, where BenLiu on your own computer receives it. It is not sent to our servers or any third party, and it is not sold or shared.

4. Mac App Store edition

The App Store edition is a reduced build: no video site resolution, no serial number activation and no in-app update check. It therefore sends no data to any server of ours; it connects only to the servers you download from.

5. Purchases and license claims on the website

If you place an order or claim a license key on the website, we receive and store:

• The email address you enter, used to send you the serial number and to recover it later
• Order details: order number, edition, amount and order status
• For manually verified payments, the Alipay transaction number or payer nickname and note you submit, used only to match the payment

To keep bots out, the order and claim pages use Cloudflare Turnstile. That check is handled by Cloudflare and involves your IP address and information about your browser environment.

We run no advertising, use no third-party analytics or tracking scripts, and do not use your email for anything unrelated to your order and license.

6. Retention and your rights

Order and license records are kept for reconciliation, moving a license to a new device and handling disputes. You can email qsw@qisw.top at any time to ask to see, correct or delete your email address and order information. Deleting a license record also invalidates its serial number.

Local data in the desktop app is under your control: deleting the app data folder removes all task records, settings and logs.

7. Children

BenLiu is a general-purpose utility. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.

8. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top of this page is updated. Material changes to how data is handled will also be announced in the app or on the website.
